Everyone in the synagogue became furious when they heard this. Their city was built on a hill with a cliff. So they got up, forced Jesus out of the city, and led him to the cliff. They intended to throw him off of it. But Jesus walked right by them and went away. (Luke 4:22, 28-30 GWT)
The moral of the story?
If you ride high on the praises of men, given time, they’ll find a reason to be furious with you and immediately seek to throw you off the cliff of their high praise. But if like Jesus, you recognise that the praise of men is to be treated like chewing gum – chew it & SPIT IT OUT; you’ll walk right by them – with a lot of swag I might add 😉
